Location: Northern Chad, West Africa
Contract: 3-Year Fixed-Term Contract (Extendable)
Rotation: FIFO Camp-Based Assignment
Project Stage: Greenfield Exploration to Production
Our client, an international mining company developing a significant greenfield gold project in Northern Chad, is seeking an experienced and field-ready Senior Geologist to join the project team on a long-term overseas assignment.
This role offers the opportunity to be involved in the development of a major gold project from exploration through production, operating in both alluvial and hard rock mining environments.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise, proven leadership capability, and the resilience required to work in a remote desert FIFO operation.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct geological mapping, sampling, core logging, and field investigations.
Lead geological interpretation and resource evaluation activities.
Support resource estimation and reserve modelling initiatives.
Develop and maintain geological models.
Implement and monitor grade control procedures for ore and waste delineation.
Coordinate closely with mine planning, engineering, and production teams.
Maintain geological databases, logging systems, and technical records.
Prepare technical reports and geological updates for management.
Identify near-mine exploration opportunities and geological targets.
Mentor and guide junior geological personnel.
Promote and maintain a strong health, safety, and environmental culture.
Minimum Requirements
BSc Honours, BSc, MSc, or equivalent qualification in Geology, Geosciences, or Earth Sciences.
Minimum 15 years' geological experience within gold mining operations.
Demonstrated experience in both alluvial and hard rock gold deposits.
Proven experience in:
Resource evaluation
Geological modelling
Grade control
Mine geology
Exploration geology
Strong leadership and team management capability.
Experience working on greenfield mining projects.
Valid passport and willingness to relocate internationally.

Preferred Requirements
Previous experience in Africa, particularly desert or Sahel environments.
French language proficiency.
Experience supporting projects from exploration through production.
Exposure to startup or greenfield mining operations.
