Our client, a leading international mining house, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Alluvial Mining, Processing & Equipment Superintendent to lead the technical development, commissioning and optimisation of a major mechanised alluvial gold mining operation in the Central African Republic (CAR).

This is a rare opportunity for a hands-on technical leader with extensive practical experience in alluvial gold mining, gravity gold recovery, wash plants, mobile mining equipment and remote African mining operations to shape a new operation from equipment selection through commissioning and full production.

Reporting directly to the Project Director and Senior Management, you will serve as the Owner's senior technical representative, ensuring the mining fleet, processing plant and operating systems deliver maximum gold recovery, operational reliability and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

As the senior technical authority, you will:

Mining Operations

• Lead all technical mining activities.

• Develop efficient mining plans and excavation strategies.

• Optimise mining productivity and equipment utilisation.

• Improve operating efficiency and minimise costs.

• Monitor production performance and operational KPIs.

Processing & Gold Recovery

• Review and optimise process flow sheets.

• Evaluate wash plant design and gravity recovery circuits.

• Improve plant throughput and recovery efficiency.

• Reduce gold losses through process optimisation.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Equipment Selection

Prior to procurement you will:

• Evaluate mining fleet and processing equipment.

• Review supplier proposals and technical specifications.

• Assess equipment suitability for remote African operations.

• Evaluate fuel consumption, maintenance requirements and spare parts availability.

• Recommend equipment modifications where required.

Commissioning & Operations

• Supervise installation and commissioning.

• Conduct performance testing.

• Verify production and recovery targets.

• Resolve commissioning issues.

• Certify operational readiness.

Maintenance & Reliability

Working closely with Maintenance teams you will:

• Develop preventative maintenance programmes.

• Improve equipment reliability.

• Reduce downtime.

• Manage critical spare parts strategies.

Leadership

• Lead multidisciplinary technical teams.

• Develop local supervisors and operators.

• Mentor technical personnel.

• Establish operating procedures and best practice standards.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred.

• Significant practical alluvial mining experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Experience

• 15–20+ years' mining industry experience.

• Extensive mechanised alluvial gold mining experience.

• Proven wash plant commissioning experience.

• Strong gravity gold recovery expertise.

• Experience operating 30–150 TPH processing plants.

• Previous remote African mining experience.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.

• Experience in greenfield project development and commissioning.

French language skills will be advantageous.
