Central African Republic | Remote Mining Site | International Mining House | Expatriate Assignment

A leading international mining house is seeking a capable and hands-on Local Operations Supervisor to support the daily operation of a new mechanised alluvial gold mining and processing operation in the Central African Republic.

Reporting to the Senior Alluvial Mining, Processing & Equipment Superintendent, this site-based role is responsible for coordinating daily mining and processing activities, supervising the local workforce, maintaining operational records and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of production plans.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced supervisor from the mining, quarrying, construction, earthmoving, mineral processing or heavy industrial sectors who enjoys working in remote operational environments and developing high-performing teams.

The Opportunity

Join an exciting greenfield alluvial gold mining project incorporating:

• Mechanised alluvial open-pit mining

• Hydraulic excavators and earthmoving equipment

• Wash plant and gravity gold recovery

• Trommel and rotary scrubber processing

• Diesel power generation

• Water pumping systems

• Workshop facilities

• Remote camp infrastructure

Key Responsibilities

Site Operations

• Coordinate daily mining and processing activities.

• Supervise local operators, plant personnel and support teams.

• Allocate work and monitor daily production progress.

• Conduct shift briefings and ensure adherence to operating procedures.

• Coordinate equipment and workforce deployment.

• Report operational delays, equipment issues and production challenges.

Mining & Processing Coordination

• Maintain continuous plant feed.

• Coordinate excavation and material movement.

• Monitor mining sequences and stockpile management.

• Support plant start-up and shutdown activities.

• Monitor plant performance and report operational abnormalities.

• Coordinate closely with maintenance personnel during breakdowns.

Production Reporting

Maintain accurate records of:

• Daily production

• Equipment operating hours

• Fuel consumption

• Downtime

• Labour attendance

• Safety observations

• Equipment utilisation

• Weather and road conditions

• Daily and weekly operational reports

Fuel & Asset Control

• Monitor fuel usage and inventory.

• Maintain fuel issue registers.

• Prevent fuel losses and unauthorised usage.

• Monitor consumables and inventory.

• Coordinate stock counts and replenishment planning.

Equipment Monitoring

• Conduct routine equipment inspections.

• Monitor equipment condition and operating performance.

• Ensure operators complete daily inspections.

• Report defects and coordinate repairs.

• Support preventative maintenance scheduling.

Safety & Leadership

• Promote a strong safety culture.

• Conduct toolbox talks.

• Enforce PPE compliance.

• Supervise workforce discipline and attendance.

• Train and mentor local operators.

• Develop future supervisors and team leaders.

• Support positive community and stakeholder relationships.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

Candidates should ideally possess:

• Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering

• Mechanical Engineering

• Mineral Processing

• Heavy Equipment Maintenance

• Industrial Operations

• Construction or Site Management

Experience

• 5–10 years' operational or supervisory experience.

• Mining, quarrying, earthmoving, construction or mineral processing experience.

• Experience supervising operational teams.

• Experience coordinating heavy equipment and production activities.

• Experience working on remote projects.

• Previous alluvial gold mining experience highly advantageous.

• Strong operational reporting and administration skills.

Technical Knowledge

Experience or exposure to:

• Excavators

• Earthmoving Equipment

• Wash Plants

• Trommels

• Rotary Scrubbers

• Gravity Gold Recovery

• Fuel Management

• Equipment Inspections

Language Requirements

• French strongly preferred.

• English preferred.

• Sango or additional regional languages advantageous.
