The Opportunity

Our client is developing a large-scale gold exploration and mining project in a remote operating environment and is seeking a motivated Junior Geologist to join its growing technical team.

This position offers excellent exposure to both exploration and resource development activities across alluvial and hard rock gold systems. Working alongside experienced geological professionals, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in drilling programmes, geological logging, sampling, mapping, database management, QA/QC processes, and resource evaluation activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct RC (Reverse Circulation) and Diamond Core logging, including lithology, alteration, mineralisation, weathering, and structural interpretation.

• Assist with geological mapping, field mapping, outcrop mapping, trench mapping, and pit mapping activities.

• Collect, prepare, catalogue, and dispatch geological samples in accordance with company procedures.

• Support drilling programmes through drill rig supervision, sample management, and geological data collection.

• Maintain accurate geological records, logging sheets, sampling information, and field documentation.

• Assist with geological database management, assay validation, and data entry.

• Support QA/QC programmes, including the insertion, monitoring, and reconciliation of standards, blanks, and duplicate samples.

• Participate in geological interpretation, target generation, and exploration reporting activities.

• Ensure all geological activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and operational standards.

• Work collaboratively with geology, mining, exploration, and technical services teams.

Technical Skills & Competencies

• Geological logging experience for RC and Diamond Core drilling programmes.

• Understanding of gold mineralisation systems, including hard rock and alluvial deposits.

• Knowledge of exploration geology, mining geology, sampling methodologies, and geological data collection.

• Experience with geological databases and data management systems.

• Familiarity with QA/QC protocols and industry best practices.

• Exposure to GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS is advantageous.

• Strong field mapping and geological interpretation skills.

• Competent in Microsoft Office and technical reporting.

Experience Required

• 2–5 years' experience within mineral exploration, mining geology, or resource development environments.

• Previous experience on gold projects highly preferred.

• Exposure to exploration drilling programmes, geological logging, and sampling activities.

• Experience working in remote, FIFO, or site-based operations is advantageous.

• African mining or exploration experience is beneficial but not essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (BSc) in Geology, Earth Sciences, Applied Geology, or a related discipline.

• Eligibility for professional geological registration is advantageous.
